CCCA | InLEC - Interdisciplinary Laboratory for Experimental Cancer Research

The "InLEC - Interdisciplinary Laboratory for Experimental Cancer Research" is a translationally oriented, interdisciplinary laboratory. In this laboratoy clinician scientists work together on cancer research projects from differnet fields. InLEC projects answer, both subject-specific as well as scientific questions and are jointly implemented on an interdisciplinary level. Here, the focus is on the scientific and content-related synergy of different disciplines. The CCCA research areas‘, exposure and disposition as well as the longitudinal view of tumor diseases, represent a fundamental thematic connection of the individual scientific projects and enable interdisciplinary approaches.

Particularly noteworthy is the strong focus on translational research. With its professional composition of CCCA member departments, the InLEC represents a direct link from clinical care to research and back to the clinic. As a synapse to profitably combine research and care within the CCCA and address translational issues, the spatial requirements are also appropriately suited. The InLEC is integrated into the main building of the hospital and thus enables a direct connection to the clinical departments and the pathology department. The interdisciplinary research collaborations generate a unique added value by addressing questions not only isolated to specific disciplines, but also in an interdisciplinary manner.

The shared use of the premises and equipment entails outstanding, methodologically broad technical expertise. The technical equipment of the laboratory is state-of-the-art and includes, in addition to the basic prerequisites and facilities for molecular biological work, in particular exceptionally extensive number of instruments. They can be used for single cell analyses, NGS-based experiments as well as genomic, epigenomic, transcriptomic and protein-based analyses, liquid biopsy studies and various (functional) imaging methods.
