The CCC WERA Alliance is an alliance of the Comprehensive Cancer Centers in Würzburg (CCC MF), Erlangen (CCC ER-EMN), Regensburg (CCC O) and Augsburg (CCCA). The goals of the alliance are the expansion of nationally and internationally competitive research networks and multidisciplinary cutting-edge medicine across these four locations. In this endeavour, the Alliance is committed to provide state-of-the-art cancer care to more than eight million residents in a large part of Bavaria.
One of the four new NCT sites (NCT National Center for Tumor Diseases), in addition to the existing sites in Heidelberg and Dresden, is located in Bavaria. It was established under the leadership of the Julius-Maximilians-University of Würzburg, the University Hospital of Würzburg with the Comprehensive Cancer Center Mainfranken - in association with the universities, university hospitals and Comprehensive Cancer Centers in Erlangen, Regensburg and Augsburg. Following the successful application for inclusion in the National Center, the CCC-WERA Alliance has been operating within this framework since fall 2020 under the name NCT WERA in the subsequent one-year conception phase.
