Safety Camp 2026, Main Stage

Preamble

Safety in healthcare, as the sum of expertise, guidelines, quality indicators, and personal responsibility, is no longer sufficient on its own. The world in which healthcare is delivered has changed fundamentally.

Increasing complexity in medicine, geopolitical tensions, hybrid threats, cyberattacks, fragile supply chains, and a growing dependence on digital infrastructure have shifted the framework of medical care. This is precisely where Safety Camp — the 1st Conference on Medical Safety — comes in.

Read the full preamble here.

By 2027, we will:

  1. Implement resilience in practice
  2. Anchor patient safety in leadership and governance
  3. Build amd ensure specialised medical knowledge
  4. Systematically develop a safety culture
  5. Use standarisation as a prerequisite for freedom, innovation, and safety
  6. Make data responsibly usable for prevention and early detection
  7. Incentivise quality and prevention structurally
  8. Actively shape a constructive culture of error and learning
  9. Systematically involve patients in safety processes
  10. Purposefully break down barriers between medicine, industry, and science
  11. Expand regional networking as a safety factor

Safety Camp

Epilogue

Safety Camp invites all past and future participants to actively implement the action items outlined in this Declaration. At Safety Camp 2027, we will highlight our progress, openly identify obstacles, and report on them transparently.

Safety Camp remains a permanent platform for collaborative learning, accountability, and implementation. The Conference on Medical Safety is organized by two strong partners: the University Hospital Augsburg (UKA) and the Augsburger Allgemeine.
