We care for patients with non-malignant blood disorders. We offer consultation, diagnosis and, if necessary, treatment for suspected disorders of all three cell lines:
Anaemia (red blood cells, erythrocytes),
including:
- iron or vitamin B12 deficiency,
- Enzyme defects in erythrocytes (e.g. glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency)
- Membrane defects in erythrocytes (e.g. spherocytosis)
- Autoimmune haemolysis (AIHA)
- Haemoglobinopathies such as sickle cell disease or thalassaemia
- Congenital or acquired bone marrow formation disorders (e.g. Diamond-Blackfan anaemia, transient erythroblastopenia of childhood)
White blood cell series (leukocytes), e.g.:
- Autoimmune neutropenia
- Cyclic neutropenia in children
Blood platelets (thrombocytes), e.g.:
- Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP)
- Congenital formation disorders
- Thrombocytopathies
As part of a comprehensive preventive care and treatment concept, we provide ongoing care in our special consultation hours for patients who require regular blood transfusions or who have increased care and prevention needs due to their illness (e.g. patients with sickle cell disease, thalassaemia major, Diamond-Blackfan anaemia or spherocytosis). As part of the newborn screening for sickle cell disease that has been carried out since 2020, our centre is listed as the primary contact for patients in the administrative district of Swabia.
