Our Medical Faculty is committed to providing modern, practice-oriented, and interdisciplinary education of the highest standard.
The first model degree programme in Human Medicine in Bavaria combines teaching in foundational subjects such as biochemistry and anatomy with clinical subjects like trauma surgery and internal medicine. From the very beginning of their studies, future doctors are taught to think and work scientifically. Effective communication with patients is a key focus from the first semester onwards.
In collaboration with the Faculty of Applied Computer Science, the Medical Faculty also offers Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes in Medical Informatics. The focus is on the digital processing of medical information. What makes this programme unique is that computer science students acquire medical knowledge in a clinical setting, guided by doctors and healthcare professionals.
In the winter semester of 2023/24, the dual degree programme in Midwifery Science was launched in collaboration with the University Hospital Augsburg.
Medical campus of the University of Augsburg
The new campus has been under construction since 2020 and opened its doors in 2024 with a forward-looking teaching building for future generations of medical students. A campus lawn, play and sports equipment, as well as shaded seating areas under trees, invite visitors to relax. A pedestrian promenade connects the new buildings with the patient garden of the University Hospital. The research building of the Institute for Theoretical Medicine is set to open in 2027.
