Information for patients

There is a Stadtsparkasse branch on the first floor of the gallery in the entrance hall of Augsburg University Hospital. Here you can carry out all your necessary banking transactions. The branch is open at the following times:

Tuesday and Wednesday from 8.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Monday and Thursday from 8.30 to 13:00 and from 14:00 to 18:00
Friday from 8:30 to 15:00 You can reach the Stadtsparkasse by

The cash machine and account statement printer are available around the clock.

Patients who wish to request their treatment records can simply contact the staff at the Central Information and Digitisation Service (ZID) with their request. A service point for patients has been set up in the entrance hall of the main building. Patients can request or collect their treatment records here for inspection.

It goes without saying that your data will be treated as strictly confidential within our organisation. All information, in particular regarding your person and your state of health, is subject to special data protection in addition to medical confidentiality in accordance with the provisions of the Bavarian Hospital Act. Your data will only be passed on to third parties with your consent.

The hairdressing salon is located on the first floor of Augsburg University Hospital, next to the café. Whether you book an appointment at the salon or request a hair treatment in your room, every effort will be made to make your stay at the hospital as pleasant as possible. With a wide range of wigs, the hairdressing salon specialises in advice, styling and care for second hairstyles. If prescribed by a doctor, it will handle the paperwork with your health insurance company.

For items, clothing, etc. that remain in the custody of the hospital after discharge or unauthorised removal from the hospital, the liability of Augsburg University Hospital is limited in accordance with Section 690 of the German Civil Code (BGB). If they are not collected by the owner within three months of the date of discharge, it will be assumed that no claims will be made in respect of them. After this period has expired, the items will be disposed of elsewhere. Lost property can be collected on the ground floor of Augsburg University Hospital, room 068 (at reception).

Use of mobile phones & mobile phone reception

Mobile phones should only be used to a limited extent at Augsburg University Hospital in order to ensure smooth operations, not to interfere with the functioning of medical equipment and not to disturb other patients. If there is no medical equipment in the room, mobile phone signals will not cause any interference. However, please ensure that loud phone calls do not disturb the peace and quiet in patient rooms – after all, the purpose of a hospital stay is to promote recovery. You may use your mobile phone without restriction in the entrance hall, café or park. Please note that mobile phone reception in certain areas of the buildings is limited due to the architecture (concrete & interior spaces) of the hospital.

However, the use of mobile phones is not permitted in the emergency room, the sensitive intensive care areas of the hospital or in the operating theatre.

For data protection reasons and to protect privacy, it is not permitted to take photos or videos of patients, their relatives and visitors, or employees of Augsburg University Hospital.

Pay-per-use telephone at the bedside

A telephone is available at every bed. A chip card is required to use it, which you can obtain from the nurses' station on your ward. The number printed on the card is your telephone number, which will remain the same throughout your stay in hospital. You can top up your chip card at one of the ticket machines. You must pay a card deposit of €10.00 and a minimum credit of a further €10.00. Any unused credit will be refunded via the ticket machine at the end of your stay.

You can make unlimited calls to German landlines for €2.50 (daily fee, excluding special numbers). Other rates:

• Mobile phones 0.15 euros/minute
• Special numbers £0.50/minute
• International calls £0.50/minute
• Directory enquiries £2.00/minute

Free BayernWLAN now available throughout the UKA

Free BayernWLAN is now available throughout the UKA (Medical Campus and Medical Campus South). This is another step towards improving the digital infrastructure at the site.

The anonymous evaluation of health data for medical research purposes is very important to us. Through our membership in the Association of German University Hospitals, we are part of the Medical Informatics Initiative, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

The Medical Informatics Initiative (MII) is a nationwide funding project in which scientists from various fields, such as medicine and computer science, collaborate at German university hospitals. Its goal is to digitally link patient data collected during hospital stays throughout Germany. This data will then be used for research purposes to enable faster and better treatment of diseases in the future.

Free television and radio

The complete range of television and radio channels is available free of charge to all patients and can be accessed from every bed. A (telephone) chip card is required to use this service, which you can obtain from the nurses' station on your ward.
