Research is indispensable for excellent tumour medicine

The chances of curing cancer or stopping it from growing so that patients can live well for as long as possible despite having the disease have never been better. Cancer research has made huge strides worldwide. Understanding the development and specific behaviour of cancer is a huge challenge for scientists and doctors. The most important goal, however, is to continue to make progress in this area, to research new cancer therapies and to further develop existing treatments, taking all therapeutic modalities into account, in order to constantly improve the chances of recovery for cancer patients.

Cancer Care and Research

In the interests of all tumour patients today and tomorrow, we want to offer the best possible cancer treatment. In order to enable further progress and improvements in the early detection, diagnosis and treatment of cancer, doctors from all disciplines are involved in science with the aim of improving the quality of life of cancer patients, further reducing the number of cancer cases and offering those affected even more effective therapies against the disease.

This also takes place at the CCCA in close co-operation with various national and international research groups. An important task and fundamental characteristic of cancer-related research at the CCCA is to establish and further develop the close interlinking of laboratory and clinical research on the one hand and applied oncology (translational research) on the other at the Augsburg site, in order to be able to apply findings from basic research as quickly as possible for the benefit of our patients.
